Everything worth
asking first.
Bookings, prices, walk-ins, barbers and finding us in Fisherman's Village — answered properly, so you know exactly what to expect before you sit down.
Reserving a chair, choosing a time, confirming details.
- You don't have to, but we recommend it. Fisherman's Village gets busy in the evenings and through high season, and booking is the only way to guarantee a specific time or a specific barber. A booking takes under a minute online, and if your plans change you can move it. Walk-ins are always welcome when a chair is free.
- Every Book button on this site takes you to our Fresha booking page, where you choose the service, the date, the time and the barber. You'll see live availability, so what you pick is what's held for you. No account is needed on our website and no deposit is taken to reserve a slot.
- Yes, and many do. You can book from anywhere in the world through Fresha, including before you fly. Times are always shown in Thailand time (ICT, UTC+7), so double-check the conversion from your home timezone before confirming. Booking your cut for the first day or two of your trip is a good idea if you have photos, a wedding or a dinner planned.
- All appointment times are shown in Thailand time (ICT, UTC+7). If you're booking from Europe, that's usually five to seven hours ahead of you depending on the season, and from Australia it's one to three hours behind. Your confirmation email will show the same local Thai time.
- Confirm four things: the service, the date, the time and the barber. If you're booking a package or braiding, check the duration too — those appointments run considerably longer than a standard haircut, and knowing that in advance saves rushing off to your next plan.
- Yes. Book each person as a separate appointment at the same or consecutive times, and choose a different barber for each if you'd like to be in the chairs side by side. For groups larger than three, message us on WhatsApp first and we'll help arrange the timings so nobody is left waiting.
- We're open every day, 10:00 to 22:00. Late-evening slots are popular with guests who spend the day at the beach, so they tend to fill first during high season. The last bookable appointment depends on the length of the service you choose.
- Choosing 'Any available' simply means the first barber free at your chosen time takes you. Every member of the team works to the same standard on haircuts, fades and beard services, so you won't get a lesser cut. If you have a specific request — heavy scissor work, braiding or colour — it's worth naming a barber, and the Barbers page lists who specialises in what.
Turning up without an appointment.
- Yes — walk-ins are welcome every day we're open, subject to a barber being free. Quieter windows are usually late morning and mid-afternoon; evenings and weekends are the busiest. If we can't take you straight away we'll tell you honestly how long the wait is, and you're welcome to grab a coffee in the village and come back.
- It depends entirely on the day and hour. Off-peak you'll often sit down within a few minutes. On a busy evening in high season it can be considerably longer, because booked appointments are always served at their reserved time. Calling ahead, even ten minutes before you arrive, gives you a much clearer answer.
What happens when the clock runs away from you.
- Please arrive on time. Appointments may be cancelled if a customer is more than 10 minutes late without letting the shop know, because the delay pushes into the next guest's reserved time. If you're running behind, message or call us — we'll do everything we can to keep your chair or shift you to the next workable slot.
- Barbering is handwork, and occasionally a cut needs a few extra minutes to be right. During busy periods small delays can happen. We keep them as short as we can and we'd always rather finish your cut properly than rush the last five minutes of it.
Changing or cancelling a booking.
- Cancellations and reschedules are handled through Fresha using the link in your confirmation email, or by messaging us directly. Please make changes as early as you can so the slot can be offered to someone else — in a small shop, an empty chair at 19:00 on a Saturday is a real loss.
- No deposit is taken to book, and no payment is collected online, so cancelling costs you nothing. We simply ask for as much notice as you can give. Repeated no-shows may affect our ability to hold future bookings for you.
What things cost and what's included.
- Every price is listed on our Services page, in Thai baht, with the duration next to it — nothing is hidden and nothing is added at the chair. Individual services are priced separately, and our Premium Care packages bundle a haircut with beard, wash and facial work at a set price. Hair colouring and perming are quoted after a short consultation, because the work depends on your hair.
- Yes. The Signature, Executive and Ultimate packages group the services most guests book together, at a lower combined price than booking each one individually. They also run as one continuous appointment, so you're in and out in a single sitting rather than returning for a second visit.
- Tipping is never expected and never added automatically. Prices on the menu are the prices you pay. Guests who want to leave something for their barber are welcome to, and it's always appreciated, but nobody will make you feel awkward if you don't.
- Because an honest price can only be given once a barber has seen your hair. Length, thickness, previous colour and the result you want all change the products and the time required. The consultation is free and carries no obligation — you'll get a clear price before anything starts.
- Every service on the Services page shows its duration next to the price. As a guide: a men's haircut is around 45 minutes, a beard trim considerably less, and the grooming packages run as one longer continuous appointment. Braiding is the longest service we offer, so plan the rest of your day around it.
- Each package lists its exact inclusions on the Services page. Signature covers a precision haircut with hair wash, conditioner and facial care. Executive adds your choice of a hot towel beard trim or a hot towel full shave. Ultimate is the complete sitting — haircut, hot towel beard trim or full shave, wash, facial care and nose and ear waxing.
How and when you pay.
- You pay in the shop after your service — nothing is charged when you book online. We accept Thai baht in cash and card payments, and the price is exactly what's shown on the menu. If you'd like a receipt, just ask at the counter.
- We price and take payment in Thai baht. There are ATMs and exchange counters within a short walk of the shop in Fisherman's Village, so it's easy to sort before or after your appointment. Card payment is the simplest option if you don't want to carry cash.
Fades, scissor work, and getting the cut you want.
- A standard men's haircut is around 45 minutes, which gives the barber time to consult properly, cut, blend and finish rather than rush. A haircut with a beard trim runs longer, and the Premium Care packages longer again. Exact durations are shown next to every service on the menu, so you can plan the rest of your day around it.
- Bring a photo — it's the fastest, clearest way to communicate a haircut in any language. If you don't have one, your barber will ask about length on top, how tight you want the sides, and how you usually style it, then talk you through what will suit your hair type and face shape. Nothing significant happens without you agreeing to it first.
- Yes. Skin fades, taper fades, low and mid fades, textured crops, scissor cuts and classic side parts are all everyday work here. The team keeps up with current styles and works with clippers and scissors both, so you can go as sharp or as soft as you like.
- For a tight fade, every two to three weeks keeps it looking intentional. A medium-length cut holds its shape for four to six weeks, and longer scissor styles can stretch to eight. In the heat and humidity of Koh Samui, most guests find they prefer a slightly shorter cut and a slightly more frequent visit.
- A taper shortens the hair gradually around the sideburns and nape while the sides stay a visible length. A fade blends from short — often down to the skin — up through longer lengths across the whole side. Tapers grow out more gracefully; fades look sharper for the first ten days. Our journal article on skin fades and tapers covers how to choose between them.
- Shampoo two or three times a week rather than daily, condition each time, and always rinse with fresh water after swimming in the sea. Use a small amount of a matte clay rather than a heavy pomade, which softens in the heat. Don't attempt the fade or the neckline yourself — a ten-minute line-up in the shop restores far more than a home clipper ever will.
Trims, shaves and hot towel work.
- The barber shapes the beard to your face, sets the cheek and neck lines, evens the length and detoxifies the outline with a razor finish. Our hot towel version adds a heated towel before the work, which softens the hair and skin and makes the finish noticeably cleaner and more comfortable.
- Yes. The hot towel full shave is a proper barbershop shave: hot towels, lather, a close razor pass and a soothing finish. It's one of the most relaxing services on the menu and it's included as a choice in our Executive and Ultimate packages.
- Yes, and this is the stage where most beards go wrong. A light shape-up every three to four weeks keeps the neckline and cheek lines clean while the length grows underneath, so it reads as deliberate instead of neglected. Tell your barber you're growing it out and they'll take off as little as possible.
Washing, conditioning and finishing.
- A wash and conditioner is included in our Premium Care packages and can be added to any haircut as a separate service. It isn't automatically bundled with a standard cut, because some guests prefer to head straight back out. Ask when you sit down and we'll sort it.
- In Koh Samui, yes. Salt water, sun cream and humidity build up in hair quickly, and a proper wash with conditioner removes that residue and leaves the hair easier to cut and to style. After a beach day it makes a genuine difference to how the finished cut sits.
Bringing kids in for a cut.
- Yes, children are welcome. Our barbers are patient with younger clients and will work at whatever pace your child is comfortable with. Booking a quieter time — late morning or mid-afternoon rather than a busy evening — usually makes the experience calmer for everyone.
- Please do. A parent or guardian nearby helps younger children settle, and it means decisions about length and style get made clearly. If your child is nervous, tell the barber before you start and they'll take extra time to explain what's happening.
- All prices, including any children's services, are listed on the Services page in Thai baht. Nothing is added at the chair. If you're unsure which service to book for a younger child, message us and we'll point you to the right one.
Visiting Koh Samui and booking from abroad.
- That's exactly what we set out to deliver. NextCut was built to international standards: modern fades and scissor work, professional products, clean tools and a properly maintained shop. Plenty of our regulars are expats and returning visitors who book with us every trip.
- If you're here for photos, a wedding or a special dinner, book two or three days before the event — that gives a fresh cut time to settle. If it's a general tidy-up, early in the trip means you look sharp in every photo that follows. Either way, evening slots go first, so reserve as soon as your plans are firm.
- Tell your barber before they start. If your scalp or neck is burnt we'll adjust the approach, avoid a close clipper pass over the sore area and skip the razor work if needed. It's much better to say something than to grit your teeth through it.
The team and choosing who cuts your hair.
- Yes. Pick your barber during the booking flow, or select 'Any available' if the time matters more than the name. Each barber has a profile on the Barbers page with their specialities, so you can match the person to the cut you're after.
- The current team is Pie, Axe, Jaym, Bank, Miw and P'Chai. Between them they cover fades, scissor work, beard services, colouring and braiding. Full profiles, specialities and booking links are on the Barbers page.
- Absolutely, and we'd encourage it if you've found someone whose work you like. A barber who has cut your hair before knows how it grows and how you wear it, which makes every following visit faster and more consistent. Just choose them again when you book.
Communicating clearly about your cut.
- Yes. The team speaks Thai and English, and we cut hair for guests from all over the world every week. If you're more comfortable in another language, bring a photo of the cut you want — between that and a short conversation, nothing gets lost.
- Yes — English, Thai, Simplified Chinese, Russian and German. Use the language switcher in the menu, and the page you're reading will reload in your chosen language with the same content and prices.
Finding the shop in Fisherman's Village.
- NextCut is in Fisherman's Village, Bophut, on the north coast of Koh Samui — Moo1 33/3, Bo Put, Ko Samui District, Surat Thani 84320. We're within walking distance of Bophut Beach, the Walking Street and The Wharf Samui. The Location page has a live map and one-tap directions.
- Fisherman's Village Walking Street, Bophut Beach and The Wharf Samui are all a short walk away, along with plenty of cafés and restaurants. It's an easy area to spend an hour in before or after your appointment, which makes it a convenient stop rather than a detour.
Scooters, cars, taxis and getting here.
- Fisherman's Village has public parking areas nearby and scooter parking along the surrounding streets. Note that the main Walking Street is closed to traffic during the Friday night market, so on Fridays plan to park a little further out and walk the last few minutes.
- Yes. Taxis, songthaews and Grab all serve Bophut and Fisherman's Village. Give the driver 'NextCut Barbershop, Fisherman's Village, Bophut' or share our Google Maps pin from the Location page — the pin is the most reliable option if there's a language gap.
- Bophut is one of the closest resort areas to Samui International Airport, typically around ten to fifteen minutes by car depending on traffic. That makes a cut on arrival day or departure day genuinely practical.
- Open the map on our Location page and tap for directions — that pin is the most reliable way to reach us, whether you're walking from Bophut Beach, riding a scooter or in a taxi. On foot, we're a short walk from the Walking Street and The Wharf Samui.
Buying a service for someone else.
- Yes — our Premium Care packages make an excellent gift, whether for a partner, a groom before a wedding or a friend visiting the island. Message us on WhatsApp or ask in the shop and we'll arrange it. Tell us the occasion and we'll help you pick the right package.
- They book like any other guest — online or by walking in — and mention the voucher when they arrive. We'd suggest they book ahead so they can choose the barber and time that suits them, especially for the longer packages.
Cornrows, box braids and timings.
- Choose Cornrows or Box Braids on the Services page and continue to Fresha. Braiding runs considerably longer than a haircut, so check the duration before confirming and leave space in your day. If your hair is unusually long or thick, message us first and we'll advise on timing.
- With normal wear, braids hold well for a couple of weeks, though swimming, salt water and sun will shorten that. Rinsing with fresh water after the sea and keeping the scalp moisturised helps them stay neat for longer. They're a practical choice for a beach holiday because they need almost no daily styling.
- Come with clean, detangled, product-free hair — it makes the work faster and the finish neater. Afterwards, keep the scalp moisturised, rinse with fresh water after the sea, and avoid pulling the braids tight when you tie them back. If any section feels painfully tight, tell your barber straight away and it can be adjusted.
Colour, perming and consultations.
- Yes, and it's free. A short consultation lets the barber assess your hair's condition, any previous colour and the result you're after, then confirm the approach, the time needed and the price. Booking the consultation a day or two before the appointment is ideal if your hair needs preparation.
- Yes — hair perming is on our menu and, like colour, it's priced after consultation because the work depends on your hair length, texture and the curl you want. Perms are popular with guests who want more volume and movement without daily styling effort.
- Both are longer appointments than a haircut, and the exact time depends on your hair's length, thickness and condition — which is why they're quoted after a consultation. Expect to be in the chair for a considerable stretch, and book earlier in the day if you have evening plans.
Hygiene, comfort and house rules.
- Tools are cleaned and sanitised between clients, razor blades are single-use, and towels and capes are fresh for every guest. The shop is cleaned throughout the day. If you'd ever like to see how something is prepared, just ask — we're happy to show you.
- Tell your barber before you leave the chair. Most concerns take two minutes to correct while you're still in the shop, and we'd far rather fix it there than have you walk out unhappy. If you notice something afterwards, message us and we'll find a way to put it right.
- Mention it at the start of your appointment. Let us know about product sensitivities, skin conditions, recent sunburn or anything else that affects how we work, and the barber will adjust the products and the technique. For colour work this is especially important, so raise it during the consultation.
- Arrive with clean, dry, unstyled hair so your barber can see how it naturally falls. Bring a photo if you have a specific result in mind, wear something with a low neckline, and arrive a few minutes early so the consultation isn't rushed. Mention sunburn, sensitive skin or product allergies before anything starts.
Everything else worth knowing.
- Yes. It takes only a few moments, it's far tidier than trimming, and the results last considerably longer. It's available as its own service and is included in the Ultimate package. If it's your first time, tell your barber and they'll talk you through it before starting.
- It's a cleanse and treatment for the face carried out after the cut, designed to lift the dust, sweat and sun cream that build up in this climate. Guests usually notice the difference most around the nose and forehead. It's included in our packages and can also be booked on its own.
- Yes — we offer a house call service for guests who'd prefer to be cut at their villa, hotel or on set. It's listed on the Services page with its own price, and it's popular for weddings, photo shoots and guests with limited mobility. Message us to arrange the timing and location.
- We use professional grooming products chosen for hot, humid conditions — finishes that hold without turning greasy by the afternoon. If you like what's used on you, ask your barber what it was and how to apply it at home; they'll show you the amount and the technique.
- Yes. Grooms, groomsmen and family groups are regular guests, and we can arrange consecutive appointments or a house call at your venue. Get in touch as early as you can with the date and the number of people, and we'll build the schedule around your ceremony time.
